This is a virtual instrument that I designed using "Processing" coding software. The instrument utilizes the well-known Linn Drum samples for sounds which can be activated by the designated computer keys shown in the software or by using the mouse cursor. However different sound can be loaded as well. The interesting part of the instrument is its delay module that allows one to create multiple drum sound repetitions if one wishes to do so. It also allows one to change the time gap between the sound repetitions and the number of the repetitions. Such delay algorithm was constructed with the help of digital audio buffers that allowed to store and rewrite audio samples. By rewriting a quieter version of the same audio sample to the buffer while it’s playing the program can mimic an echo/delay effect in the digital plane. The video on the left further explains the fundamentals of this virtual instrument.
