This is a virtual music workstation that I made with the use of "Pure Data" visual coding environment. The software utilizes sequencing as its primary way of creating music. With the use of various digital oscillator objects within the programming environment of "Pure Data" I was able to create three different sound modules that could play sixteen sequenced notes. The workstation also has an additional drum module which allows one to create sequenced drum patterns with the same number of notes as the other sound modules. Additionally, the instrument also has audio processing and effects modules. These modules allow one to add effects to the sound and shape their musical mix with volume, equalization and panning tools.
The aim of the instrument is to musically inspire people who are just starting to get involved with music. Due to this reason the instrument utilizes such music techniques as chromatic note scales which help to eliminate the need of fully understanding music theory. This allows one to have quick and fun experience with this software while also learning the fundamentals of music production. The video on the right displays the fundamental software mechanics that were used to create the instrument. The second video displays people using the instrument for the first time. |
